  1. I always had a soft spot in my heart for the movie adaptation of Marx’s Capital that Eisenstein planned for years (incorporating ideas from Ulysses, like the changing narrative styles). Marx’s peculiar economic history as an epic, cinematic poem, lots of planned leaps from the particular to the general and back again — would have been a hell of a movie.

  2. I think anything more from Eisenstein would have been worth seeing. That article mentions the two I’d most wanted to have seen completed, the Kubrick and Powell. Actually there’s also Powell’s adaptation of A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula Le Guin, something he was planning while director-in-residence at Coppola’s Zoetrope Studios.
