The Prophecy

prophecy1.jpg

The Prophecy is a Michelangelo-esque collaboration between BeautifulMag and digital artist Aymeric Giraudel which you can download at high resolution here and here. (If you want a single picture you’ll have to stitch them together yourself.) Among the models for this are Les Farfadais whose work was mentioned here last June.

Very interesting piece. Will you show us the other parts when they come out?

Yes, I see they’ve added a new panel today. It’s a pretty good piece of photo-collage but the horse is a bit clumsy. That’s often the way when digital art tries to imitate paintings which are inherently romantic. Even top photographers like Annie Leibovitz struggle on that account, she did a rather poor set of photos for Disney last year.

My solution when I was doing the Cradle of Filth artwork was to push the collage far more into being a digital painting. But that approach needs a lot more work and also proper illustration skills to be successful.

I love Beautiful, and this project is pretty cool. Thanks for posting it!

(One thing that drives me crazy, though, is when websites put their name on images that aren’t even theirs to begin with. It’s shady!)

I know, they do that with everything. I think they get permission but they’re only posting free pics, it’s not like they’ve paid for anything.
