Winter panoramas

winter1.jpg

Staromestske Namesti (Old Town Square), Prague.

Continuing the winter theme with some views from my favourite panorama site, 360 Cities. These are all from the northern hemisphere, I was hoping for something from Antarctica but it’s not represented there. The view over the frozen tundra at Barrow, Alaska, can stand in for the continent’s absence, however, a white desert which quite chills the soul. Tromsø is about as far north as Barrow but looks a lot more welcoming.

I’ll be taking a welcome break for the next few days so I’m hoping the site will remain stable during that time as I take time out from staring at a computer screen. The continual outages this year have been very annoying but I’ve been too busy to look into changing the hosting, that’s something to sort out in the New Year. As usual, the archive facility will be in operation throwing up random posts from the past three-and-a-half years.

Have a good one.

I was at Old Town Square just yesterday and it was fabulous, walking with a cup of hot wine through the golden-lighted streets. Well, if you don’t count never ending mass of tourists and such. This year is Prague very well decorated.(I should know that it can be much worse, I live near Prague.) There is not any snow anymore. Such a shame but we’ve got Prague covered in snow just until this weekend, so I think I’m pretty satisfied.
I’ve been watching this site for a while now and I like it so far. I just wanted to let you know. Keep up with your amazing work in the next year too and happy New Year!

Hi Katka, and thanks. I’m surprised that Prague was snow-free this year while we’ve been inundated, we usually get little or no snow here until January or February. Some of the panoramas linked above show the Christmas market in the Old Town Square; I’d love to see that one year.
