This largely unrecognised photographer quietly plodded along through the streets and alleyways of the city of light and built up an unmatched and precious record of Paris as it was almost a century ago for us to use for pleasure and research – what a lifetime body of work which any of us would be proud to claim. I for one admire his stamina and his style, which although even as he worked was archaic and unsung, has left us with this wonderful collection.
