The subject marks it as Symbolist but the almost Expressionist style is very 20th century which makes its date of 1890 all the more surprising.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.googleartproject.com\/museums\/tretyakov\/demon-sitting-191\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/vrubel2.jpg\" alt=\"vrubel2.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is one of two Vrubels at the Google page for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.googleartproject.com\/museums\/tretyakov\" target=\"_blank\">The State Tretyakov Gallery<\/a>, Moscow.
