The interior design suggestion above has me wondering whether there&#8217;s ever been another period of design when it&#8217;s seemed quite natural (so to speak) to offer a giant insect and monstrous flowers as wall motifs. Something to bear in mind if anyone tries to argue that Art Nouveau wasn&#8217;t a radical form.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/digitalgallery.nypl.org\/nypldigital\/dgkeysearchdetail.cfm?trg=1&amp;strucID=721987&amp;imageID=818701&amp;total=59&amp;num=0&amp;word=source%5Fnote%5Fid%3ADV&amp;s=1&amp;notword=&amp;d=&amp;c=&amp;f=&amp;k=0&amp;lWord=&amp;lField=&amp;sScope=Source%20Note%20Title&amp;sLevel=&amp;sLabel=Dekorative%20Vorbilder%20%3A%20eine%20Sammlung%20von%20fig\u00fcrlichen%20Darstellungen%20und%20kunstgewerblichen%20Verzierungen%2E&amp;imgs=20&amp;pos=10&amp;e=w#_seemore\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/vorbilder2.jpg\" alt=\"vorbilder2.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Georges de Feure.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>These plates are all from a collection at the NYPL Digital Gallery where the samples available cover a range of styles from the ancient world to the 19th century. The collection there doesn&#8217;t seem complete, unfortunately, and much as I&#8217;d like to point to a complete set elsewhere that doesn&#8217;t seem possible for the time being.
