The tagline connects Salom\u00e9 with <em>The Ballad of Reading Gaol<\/em>: &#8220;We kill the thing we love.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/salome1986.jpg\" alt=\"salome1986.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Searching around for posters turned up this item for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0091885\/\" target=\"_blank\">an Italian-French co-production<\/a> of the Wilde play directed by Claude d&#8217;Anna. I&#8217;ve not seen this but it can&#8217;t be any worse than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/2010\/04\/06\/salomes-last-dance\/\">Ken Russell&#8217;s version<\/a> so it may be worth seeking out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/salome1953-big.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/salome1953.jpg\" alt=\"salome1953.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Far better poster-wise is this splendid creation by Anselmo Ballester for the Italian release of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0046269\/\" target=\"_blank\">1953 Hollywood film<\/a> (which isn&#8217;t based on the play).
