Via the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beatbookcovers.com\/burroughs\/\" target=\"_blank\">Burroughs Book Covers<\/a> archive.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Sel Publishing House, Turkey, published a new translation of <em>The Soft Machine<\/em> by William Burroughs in January, an edition which is now under investigation by the Istanbul Prosecutor\u2019s Office following a report by the (deep breath) Prime Ministry\u2019s Council for Protecting Minors from Explicit Publications. The Council lodged a number of complaints, among them assertions of \u201clacking unity in its subject matter,\u201d \u201cincompliance with narrative unity,\u201d \u201cusing slang and colloquial terms\u201d and \u201cthe application of a fragmented narrative style.\u201d Details <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/n.php?n=william-s.-burroughs-on-trial-for-corrupting-the-morality-of-turks-2011-04-26\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. Does Turkey still want to join the EU?
