That didn&#8217;t stop Catholic protestors in France <a href=\"http:\/\/french-news-online.com\/wordpress\/?p=5621#axzz1Jpn4ZkUu\" target=\"_blank\">attacking a copy of <em>Piss Christ<\/em><\/a> on Monday. By coincidence, Dave Maier had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.3quarksdaily.com\/3quarksdaily\/2011\/04\/but-is-it-art.html\" target=\"_blank\">posted an essay<\/a> about Serrano&#8217;s work a few hours earlier, and with a reminder that the notorious photograph was part of a series, a detail which is often forgotten or conveniently ignored.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Avant Garde Project which made available deleted experimental audio works (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/2008\/04\/22\/the-avant-garde-project\/\">this earlier post<\/a>) ceased activity a while ago so it&#8217;s good to see that its archives will now be <a href=\"http:\/\/ubu.com\/sound\/agp\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">hosted at Ubuweb<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;African Head Charge again was a studio name I had to start with, and it evolved into a band about eight years later. That started out again I read an interview in a newspaper where Brian Eno talked about he\u2019d made an album called <em>My Life in the Bush of Ghosts<\/em> with another musician\u2014that Talking Heads fellow [David Byrne]\u2014and he said &#8220;I had a vision of a psychedelic Africa&#8221;. And I thought, &#8220;Oh, that\u2019s pretentious&#8221;. But then I thought about it, and thought &#8220;No, what a good idea! Make really trippy African dub&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/thequietus.com\/articles\/06115-adrian-sherwood-interview\" target=\"_blank\">Adrian Sherwood<\/a> on thirty years of On-U Sound.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u2022 Related: Brian Eno has a new album out in July, <a href=\"http:\/\/brian-eno.net\/drums-between-the-bells\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Drums Between The Bells<\/em><\/a>, a collaboration with Rick Holland.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Do you think Lord Leighton could by any chance have been a homosexual?&#8221; enquired Richard. &#8220;It says here,&#8221; I replied, consulting a laminated information card, &#8220;that there is no evidence one way or the other.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Rent boys leave no evidence,&#8221; said Richard.<\/p>\n<p><em>A private view of Lord Leighton&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/artanddesign\/charlottehigginsblog\/2011\/apr\/20\/leighton-house-art-fund-museums-prize\" target=\"_blank\">home in Holland Park<\/a>, London, which <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/artanddesign\/2010\/apr\/17\/frederic-lord-leighton-house-restored\" target=\"_blank\">opened to the public again<\/a> last year.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"http:\/\/peterblumgallery.com\/exhibitions\/2011\/passengers\/selected-works\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Passengers<\/em><\/a>, an exhibition of urban transit photos by Chris Marker at Peter Blum, NYC.
