French artist Gilles Rimbault is one such, as was British underground artist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/2010\/03\/15\/the-art-of-jim-leon-1938\u20132002\/\">Jim Leon<\/a>, and another Frenchman, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/2007\/04\/22\/the-art-of-bertrand\/\">Raymond Bertrand<\/a>. Unlike Leon and Bertrand, Rimbault&#8217;s work and information about the artist is frustratingly scarce. The first examples here are from covers of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.noosfere.com\/heberg\/ericb33\/Biblio.asp?RevNum=2250\" target=\"_blank\">French science fiction magazines<\/a>\u2014also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.noosfere.com\/heberg\/ericb33\/Biblio.asp?RevNum=2211\" target=\"_blank\">a source of work for Bertrand<\/a>\u2014while the samples below are a pair of intriguingly androgynous pieces of erotica from <a href=\"http:\/\/drtenge.livejournal.com\/487147.html\" target=\"_blank\">this page<\/a> which gathers a number of similar <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artcyclopedia.com\/artists\/bellmer_hans.html\" target=\"_blank\">Hans Bellmer-like<\/a> works.
