FACT magazine <a href=\"http:\/\/www.factmag.com\/2010\/05\/14\/pursuit-grooves-groove-accordingly\/\" target=\"_blank\">interviewed Vanese Smith<\/a> about her work.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 One of the books whose interiors I designed last year for Tachyon was <em>The Secret History of Science Fiction<\/em>, a story collection edited by James Patrick Kelly and John Kessel. (And a book which I&#8217;ve yet to add to my web pages, I&#8217;m still behind with updates.) The <em>LA Times<\/em> has a piece about the anthology <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment\/news\/la-ca-astral-weeks-20100516,0,5890260.story\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, focusing on the Don DeLillo contribution, <em>Human Moments in World War III<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 It&#8217;s been another week of Facebook hate; being a self-satisfied refusenik I can&#8217;t help but find this amusing. Too many good pieces to list but Gizmodo had <a href=\"http:\/\/gizmodo.com\/5534736\/why-you-should-still-quit-facebook\" target=\"_blank\">more reasons why you should still quit Facebook<\/a>, Jason Calacanis <a href=\"http:\/\/calacanis.com\/2010\/05\/12\/the-big-game-zuckerberg-and-overplaying-your-hand\/\" target=\"_blank\">gathered lots of links to other stories on his blog<\/a> while social media expert Danah Boyd <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zephoria.org\/thoughts\/archives\/2010\/05\/14\/facebook-and-radical-transparency-a-rant.html\" target=\"_blank\">got to the heart of the matter<\/a> with a very cogent polemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 If you want an alternative to Facebook, <a href=\"http:\/\/joindiaspora.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Diaspora<\/a> is &#8220;the privacy aware, personally controlled, do-it-all distributed open source social network&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 David Toop has a new book out next month. &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.continuumbooks.com\/books\/detail.aspx?BookId=157553&amp;SntUrl=152682&amp;SubjectId=1381&amp;Subject2Id=1712\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Sinister Resonance<\/em><\/a> begins with the premise that sound is a haunting, a ghost, a presence whose location is ambiguous and whose existence is transitory. The intangibility of sound is uncanny \u2013 a phenomenal presence in the head, at its point of source and all around.
