In the spirit of this {feuilleton} encourages you to show some love to your local music merchant if you can. There&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.recordstoreday.com\/Home\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a> for the US side of things with details of special releases that bands have produced in support of the day. FACT Mag ran an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.factmag.com\/2010\/04\/12\/the-a-z-of-record-store-day-2010\/\" target=\"_blank\">A\u2013Z<\/a> of similar releases which will be available in the UK and the <em>Guardian<\/em> has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/music\/2010\/apr\/16\/independent-music-stores-musicians-favourites\" target=\"_blank\">an article<\/a> interviewing Johnny Marr, Tracey Thorn, Jon Savage and others about their favourite places past and present. No surprise to see Manchester shops highlighted given the contributors; Johnny Marr plugs <a href=\"http:\/\/www.piccadillyrecords.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Piccadilly Records<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beatinrhythm.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Beatin&#8217; Rhythm<\/a> (the latter a great source for obscure psychedelia, among other things) while Mr Savage also recommends <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingbeerecords.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kingbee<\/a> out in the wilds of Chorlton, the place where he discovered The Tornados&#8217; <em>Do You Come Here Often<\/em>, one of the songs on his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trikont.com\/basics\/cgi-tdb\/basics.prg?session=53d9a7a14bc92ac7_848249&amp;a_no=895&amp;suchbegriff=savage&amp;r_index=10.1\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Queer Noises<\/em><\/a> compilation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The White Album by Flickr user Fab.C.
