Lots of the names one would expect to see in a collection of engraving collagists although no <a href=\"http:\/\/assemblyman-eph.blogspot.com\/2009\/09\/collages-of-wilfried-satty-podriech.html\" target=\"_blank\">Wilfried S\u00e4tty<\/a>. The examples shown here are by Max Bucaille.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/ubugallery.com\/phpwcms\/index.php?id=32,272,0,0,1,0\" target=\"_blank\">Max Ernst<\/a> (1891\u20131976), with such work as his shocking and seminal illustrated collage-novel, <em>La Femme 100 t\u00eates<\/em> (1929), influenced an entire wave of artists who looked towards the Surrealist and his use of 19th Century engravings as a point of departure within their own work in this medium. The first generation of artists were Ernst&#8217;s contemporaries, who worked primarily in the 1930s with significant connection to the Surrealists: <a href=\"http:\/\/ubugallery.com\/phpwcms\/index.php?id=32,270,0,0,1,0\" target=\"_blank\">Joseph Cornell<\/a> (1903\u20131972), <a href=\"http:\/\/ubugallery.com\/phpwcms\/index.php?id=32,278,0,0,1,0\" target=\"_blank\">Jind?ich \u0160tyrsk\u00fd<\/a> (1899\u20131942), <a href=\"http:\/\/ubugallery.com\/phpwcms\/index.php?id=32,273,0,0,1,0\" target=\"_blank\">Otto Hofmann<\/a> (1907\u20131994), <a href=\"http:\/\/ubugallery.com\/phpwcms\/index.php?id=32,277,0,0,1,0\" target=\"_blank\">Franz Roh<\/a> (1890\u20131965), <a href=\"http:\/\/ubugallery.com\/phpwcms\/index.php?id=32,271,0,0,1,0\" target=\"_blank\">Max Bucaille<\/a> (1906\u20131992), and <a href=\"http:\/\/ubugallery.com\/phpwcms\/index.php?id=32,276,0,0,1,0\" target=\"_blank\">Gerome Kamrowski<\/a> (1914\u20132004).
