The wonderfully spare style of these looks advanced for the time but probably owes something to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fulltable.com\/VTS\/aoi\/l\/lt\/lt.htm\" target=\"_blank\">William Nicholson<\/a>&#8216;s earlier work.
