The Delaware gallery has more of Pyle&#8217;s work including his strikingly sparse pirate painting <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.delart.org\/view\/collections\/gallery4_pyle\/gallery4_marooned.html\" target=\"_blank\">Marooned<\/a><\/em>, which appeared on the cover of the Hal Willner compilation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/2006\/09\/17\/rogues-gallery-pirate-ballads-sea-songs-and-chanteys\/\"><em>Rogue&#8217;s Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs, and Chanteys<\/em><\/a>, in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Mermaids are a popular thing on the web, of course, with several picture galleries of varying quality available, from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.illusionsgallery.com\/sirens.html\" target=\"_blank\">prime Victorian<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/groups\/505462@N23\/pool\/\" target=\"_blank\">gaudy contemporary<\/a>; needless to say, I prefer the former.
