A heavier use of synthesizers and samples than you usually hear from Gane, together with trace elements of his previous project, Cavern Of Anti-Matter. The highlight is the final track, <em>Astral Melancholy Suite<\/em>, a 15-minute synth odyssey that includes an extended sequencer run of a kind usually associated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discogs.com\/style\/berlin-school\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Berlin School<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The comic-book details that decorate the packaging are credited to Samplerman, whoever they are. There&#8217;s further continuity here with Stereolab who borrowed graphics from French comics for the artwork on some of their singles and EPs. I&#8217;ve never been a fervent collector of Duophonic releases so it was years before I realised that the graphic on this cover for <em>Instant 0 In The Universe<\/em>\u2026<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/stereolab.jpg\" alt=\"stereolab.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u2026was swiped from this page in the fabulously rare <a href=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/2014\/12\/08\/saga-de-xam-by-nicolas-devil\/\"><em>Saga de Xam<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/saga.jpg\" alt=\"saga.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> Samplerman is <a href=\"https:\/\/samplerman.tumblr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.
