One of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/_f7\/\" target=\"_blank\">a remarkable series<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rixdorfeditions.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rixdorf Editions<\/a> is a new publishing venture from Strange Flowers&#8217; James Conway which &#8220;&#8230;aims to cast light on an era which is misunderstood to the extent that it is thought of at all. I speak of the German Empire, specifically the Wilhelmine period from 1890 to 1918.&#8221; The first two titles, both translated by Conway himself, are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rixdorfeditions.com\/hirschfeld-third-sex\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Berlin&#8217;s Third Sex<\/em><\/a> (1904), a study of the city&#8217;s queer <em>demi monde<\/em> by the pioneering Magnus Hirschfeld; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rixdorfeditions.com\/reventlow-the-guesthouse\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Guesthouse at the Sign of the Teetering Globe<\/em><\/a> (1917), a collection of strange stories by Franziska zu Reventlow.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Patrick McGoohan&#8217;s enigmatic TV series, <em>The Prisoner<\/em>, premiered 50 years ago this week. Among the series&#8217; many stylistic hallmarks was the use of Berthold Wolpe&#8217;s Albertus typeface, as detailed at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wemadethis.co.uk\/blog\/2015\/02\/albertus-and-the-prisoner\/\" target=\"_blank\">We Made This<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Three of Bill Nelson&#8217;s home-produced instrumental albums from the 1980s\u2014<em>Sounding The Ritual Echo<\/em>, <em>Das Kabinet<\/em>, and <em>La Belle Et La B\u00eate<\/em>\u2014are <a href=\"https:\/\/burningshed.com\/bill-nelson_dreamy-screens_boxset\" target=\"_blank\">reissued in November<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/heiner1947\/sets\/72157673408136062\/\" target=\"_blank\">Photos by Heinrich Klaffs<\/a> of German group Faust performing live (for the first time?) in 1971.
