Trees make their presence most apparent during the leaf-shedding months of October and November, and one of the pieces on this new collection, <em>The Hand of Auctumnus<\/em> by Richard Moult, refers directly to the season.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The album takes as one of its initial reference points <em>Electric Eden<\/em> author Rob Young\u2019s observations of the roots of the word folk as being \u201c\u2026the music of the \u2018Volk\u2019, a word born of the Teutonic Wald, the wild wood where society was organised ad hoc, bottom-up and frequently savage\u2026\u201d; places where rituals endured and perplexed their heirs.<\/p>\n<p>In amongst <em>The Forest \/ The Wald<\/em> can be found expressions of greenwood rituals performed in the modern-day, echoes of fantastical childhood rhymes, sylvan siren calls that tremble through tangles of branches, electronics pressed into the summoning of otherworldly arboreal creations unearthed amidst the creeping thickets and elegies to woodland intrusions, solitudes and seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Track list:<br \/>\n1) <em>The Abney Ritual<\/em> \u2013 Bare Bones<br \/>\n2) <em>Hawthorn Heart<\/em> \u2013 Magpahi<br \/>\n3) <em>Deep Undergrowth<\/em> \u2013 Polypores<br \/>\n4) <em>Fantastic Mass<\/em> \u2013 Time Attendant<br \/>\n5) <em>Waldeinsamkeit<\/em> \u2013 David Colohan<br \/>\n6) <em>The Hand Of Auctumnus<\/em> \u2013 Richard Moult<br \/>\n7) <em>Tomo\u2019s Tale<\/em> \u2013 Sproatly Smith<br \/>\n8) <em>A Whisper In The Woods<\/em> \u2013 The Hare And The Moon ft Alaska<br \/>\n9) <em>Ocarina Procession<\/em> \u2013 The Rowan Amber Mill<br \/>\n10) <em>Trees Grew All Around Her<\/em> \u2013 The S\u00e9ance with Lutine<br \/>\n11) <em>Equinox<\/em> \u2013 Cosmic Neighbourhood<br \/>\n12) <em>Where Once We Wandered Free<\/em> \u2013 A Year In The Country<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Not everything here is folk-oriented, some of the contributions, such as those by Polypores and Time Attendant, are electronic pieces. David Colohan, Sproatly Smith, The Rowan Amber Mill, Richard Moult and others follow more familiar paths through the trees.
