The mysterious atmosphere of <em>The Blind House<\/em> (often labelled as <em>The Shuttered House<\/em>, <em>The Pink House<\/em> or even <em>The House of Mysteries<\/em>) was admired by Ren\u00e9 Magritte who inverted the apparent conjunction of night and day in his own <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/File:The_Empire_of_Light_Belgium.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Empire of Lights<\/em><\/a> series. Degouve de Nuncques&#8217; other pictures from this period possess a similar quality of nocturnal mystery, a predilection he shared with other Belgian artists such as\u00a0L\u00e9on Spilliaert and Paul Delvaux.
