Via <a href=\"http:\/\/beautifulcentury.tumblr.com\/post\/116583068720\/leprincelointain-carlo-farneti-1892-1961\" target=\"_blank\">Beautiful Century<\/a> although the scans probably came originally from <a href=\"http:\/\/50watts.com\/Les-Fleurs-du-Skull\" target=\"_blank\">50 Watts<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 &#8220;&#8230;a project that seemed under a curse comprising greed, peculiar French copyright laws, jealousies and grudges, bad judgment, complicated ownership disagreements, a messy estate, and a list of individuals who believed they had some legal, financial, moral, or artistic right to the film itself.&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/2015\/04\/orson-welles-the-other-side-of-the-wind-making-of\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Karp<\/a> on the tangled history of <em>The Other Side of the Wind<\/em>, always the most interesting of Orson Welles&#8217; unfinished feature films.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Producer <a href=\"http:\/\/connyplank.com\/leben\" target=\"_blank\">Conny Plank<\/a> is remembered for his work with a host of German artists but he also recorded a session with Duke Ellington and His Orchestra in 1970. <a href=\"http:\/\/groenland.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gr\u00f6nland Records<\/a> is releasing the session in July, and they&#8217;ve posted <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/groenlandrecords\/duke-ellington-his-orchestra-afrique-take-3-vocal\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Afrique (take 3 vocal<\/em><\/a>) as a taster.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 &#8220;And that&#8217;s what a lot of social media by authors is starting to look like, to feel like: being smacked in the face, repeatedly, by hundreds of fish.&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whimsydark.com\/blog\/2015\/4\/13\/please-shut-up-why-self-promotion-as-an-author-doesnt-work\" target=\"_blank\">Delilah S. Dawson<\/a> wants authors to leave off the incessant self-promotion.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;In everybody, there is an inner bestiary,&#8221; she claimed, and her pictures are overrun with animals and animal-headed creatures; sometimes sinister, sometimes acting as guides to the unconscious, as in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/arts\/yourpaintings\/paintings\/the-pomps-of-the-subsoil-1831\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Pomps of the Subsoil<\/em><\/a> (1947). As her interests grew more hermetic her paintings abandoned all trace of the world beyond.
