Andrew Spragg reviews it <a href=\"http:\/\/thequietus.com\/articles\/17025-william-s-burroughs-nothing-here-now-but-the-recordings-review\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. Burroughs&#8217; readings fill several collections but this one was the first I owned, and it&#8217;s always been a favourite. The album features recordings of early texts such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=K5LHom219cU\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Last Words of Hassan I Sabbah<\/em><\/a>, as well as cut-up tape experiments which fuelled some of the chapters in the <em>Nova Trilogy<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Melancholy of Perversion: a study of <a href=\"http:\/\/weirdfictionreview.com\/2015\/01\/melancholy-perversion\/\" target=\"_blank\">Caitl\u00edn R. Kiernan\u2019s <em>Metamorphosis A<\/em><\/a> by Scott Dwyer. More weird fiction: &#8220;Written with real psychological depth, these enigmatic tales rise far beyond straightforward ghost stories.&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/booksblog\/2015\/jan\/12\/brief-survey-short-story-robert-aickman\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Power on Robert Aickman<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 At Dangerous Minds: <a href=\"http:\/\/dangerousminds.net\/comments\/gay_semiotics_hilariously_deadpan_taxonomy_of_san_francisco_life_in_the_197\"><em>Gay Semiotics<\/em><\/a>, a taxonomy of San Francisco life in the 1970s. Related: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/changebrowser#url=\/#section\/-1\/article\/p2p-82505973\/\">The case of <em>One<\/em><\/a>, a gay magazine from Los Angeles prosecuted for obscenity in 1958.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Poe\u2019s mind was by no means commonplace. In the last year of his life he wrote a prose poem, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikisource.org\/wiki\/Eureka:_A_Prose_Poem\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Eureka<\/em><\/a>, which would have established this fact beyond doubt\u2014if it had not been so full of intuitive insight that neither his contemporaries nor subsequent generations, at least until the late twentieth century, could make any sense of it. Its very brilliance made it an object of ridicule, an instance of affectation and delusion, and so it is regarded to this day among readers and critics who are not at all abreast of contemporary physics. <em>Eureka<\/em> describes the origins of the universe in a single particle, from which \u201cradiated\u201d the atoms of which all matter is made.
