There are other versions around but most are poor copies of the original. Hans Thoma (1839\u20131924) was a very conventional German artist whose work occasionally skirts the homoerotic, perhaps unintentionally. I may post some of his prints later. He produced another variation on the Flandrin pose entitled <em>The Prodigal Son<\/em> with the figure reversed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"unknown.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/02\/unknown.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>An uncredited and undated photograph from a collection of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/dcwooten\/sets\/715570\/\" target=\"_blank\">vintage male nudes<\/a> on Flickr.
