Artwork by Amy Torok.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Amy Torok&#8217;s cover art for the <a href=\"https:\/\/auroraborealisrecordings.bandcamp.com\/album\/crashing-diseases-incurable-airplanes\" target=\"_blank\">debut album<\/a> by Canadian band USA Out Of Vietnam is pleasingly reminiscent of the surreal and psychedelic collages of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/60584010@N00\/sets\/72157623087791482\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wilfried S\u00e4tty<\/a>. The music within has been described as &#8220;a cross between ELO and Sunn O)))&#8221; which it is up to a point, although to these ears the group are more in the Sunn O))) camp than the post-Beatles pop of Jeff Lynne and co. The sound is big whatever label you apply, and promises much for the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/entertainment\/article\/Mysterious-creatures-of-Monterey-Bay-Aquarium-s-5482321.php\">Mysterious creatures of Monterey Bay Aquarium&#8217;s &#8216;Tentacles&#8217;<\/a>. The Aquarium bought one of my drawings last year for this exhibition which juxtaposes tentacular artwork with live creatures. The show runs until 2016.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Jon Hassell&#8217;s 1990 album, <a href=\"https:\/\/bleep.com\/release\/51169-jon-hassell-city-works-of-fiction-expanded-edition\" target=\"_blank\"><em>City: Works Of Fiction<\/em><\/a>, has been reissued in an expanded edition including a live concert collaboration with Brian Eno, and a collection of remixes\/alternate takes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Photographer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/johnkeys\" target=\"_blank\">Jonathan Keys<\/a> uses antique camera equipment to give his views of contemporary Britain a patina of the past.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2014\/may\/23\/venus-fur-roman-polanski-novella\">Roman Polanski and the man who invented masochism<\/a>.
