Halloween approaches. Edgar Allan Poe illustrators are legion\u2014some of the better ones appeared here a couple of years ago (see the links below)\u2014but I’d not seen these lithographs by Hugo Steiner-Prag (1880\u20131945) before. Steiner-Prag was an ideal illustrator for Gustav Meyrink’s The Golem<\/em> so it’s a pleasure to see him addressing Poe’s poems. All the prints are from a collection at the Google Art Project<\/a> which includes one of the Golem<\/em> illustrations plus a set for The Tales of Hoffmann<\/em>.<\/p>\n Spirits of the Dead.<\/em><\/p>\n The Sleeper.<\/em><\/p>\n To Zante.<\/em><\/p>\n The Raven.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The City in the Sea.<\/em><\/p>\n Tamerlane.<\/em><\/p>\n Dreamland.<\/em><\/p>\n The Lake.<\/em><\/p>\n The Coliseum.<\/em><\/p>\n Ulalume.<\/em><\/p>\n Fairy-land.<\/em><\/p>\n Elsewhere on { feuilleton } Previously on { feuilleton } Halloween approaches.
