It&#8217;s also his most well-known composition although most people know it as a putative inspiration for Christopher Tyng&#8217;s theme to <em>Futurama<\/em>. The YouTube version <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7K4RuQDxUaI\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> is the original mix. Many other uploads are later remixes which disgracefully downplay the wonderful out-of-time synth shrieks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"henry2.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/henry2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Too Fortiche \/ Psych\u00e9 Rock \/ Teen Tonic \/ Jericho Jerk (1967). Credited to &#8220;Les Yper-Sound&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Psych\u00e9 Rock<\/em> was the second track on <em>Messe Pour Le Temps Present<\/em>, an album of music composed in part with Michel Colombier. (It was also released on an EP with three other Henry\/Colombier tracks, and later as a single in its own right.) The <em>Messe<\/em> section of the album was the score for a Maurice B\u00e9jart dance piece, a small example of which can be seen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=P1tOPGax6x8\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. There&#8217;s also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3LZbw6YCcm4\" target=\"_blank\">this silly dance sequence<\/a> from French TV featuring stripping meter maids.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"perrey.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/perrey.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Moog Indigo (1970).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Another French composer, Jean-Jacques Perrey,\u00a0 looked from inner to outer space in 1970 with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2SO_NZa_hNk\" target=\"_blank\"><em>E.V.A.<\/em><\/a>, a track on his <em>Moog Indigo<\/em> album. This sounds very similar to <em>Psych\u00e9 Rock<\/em>, albeit less wild and much more groovy, and may also be an inspiration for the <em>Futurama<\/em> theme. This train of associations has given <em>E.V.A.<\/em> a life beyond its album release.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"futurama.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/futurama.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As to <em>Futurama<\/em>, there&#8217;s a mass of clips and themes of differing lengths out there. I&#8217;ll mention Fatboy Slim&#8217;s remixes only to say that I&#8217;ve never been very enamoured of Quentin&#8217;s compositions so the less said about him (and them), the better. <em>Les Jerks \u00c9lectroniques De La Messe Pour Le Temps Pr\u00e9sent Et Musiques Concr\u00e8tes De Pierre Henry Pour Maurice B\u00e9jart<\/em> was available on CD as recently as 2009 in a package which shows <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/viewimages?release=1926480\" target=\"_blank\">some of the equipment<\/a> used to produce its sounds.<\/p>\n<p>Previously on { feuilleton }<br \/>\n\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/2006\/08\/06\/the-music-of-igor-wakhevitch\/\">The music of Igor Wakh\u00e9vitch<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Messe Pour Le Temps Present (1967).
