At the time there was little of\u00a0Wacik&#8217;s other work online so I was delighted by <a href=\"http:\/\/50watts.com\/Franz-Wacik\" target=\"_blank\">the latest post at 50 Watts<\/a> which showcases a selection of his illustrations. Wacik was a contemporary of British illustrator<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bpib.com\/illustrat\/sime.htm\" target=\"_blank\"> Sidney Sime<\/a>, and both artists share a predilection for the comic and the grotesque.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 &#8220;The outlawing of drugs such as cannabis, MDMA and LSD amounts to the &#8216;the worst case of scientific censorship since the Catholic Church banned the works of Copernicus and Galileo&#8217;, the former Government drugs advisor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/science\/the-worst-case-of-scientific-censorship-since-the-catholic-church-banned-the-works-of-galileo-scientists-call-for-drugs-to-be-legalised-to-allow-proper-study-of-their-properties-8654514.html\" target=\"_blank\">Professor David Nutt<\/a> has claimed.&#8221; Related: &#8220;At last, the edifice of drugs prohibition is starting to crumble,&#8221; says <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/science\/2013\/jun\/14\/edifice-drugs-prohibition-crumbling\" target=\"_blank\">Amanda Feilding<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/magazine-22856586?ocid=socialflow_twitter_bbcworld\" target=\"_blank\">Alan Johnston<\/a> on &#8220;A gay island community created by Italy&#8217;s Fascists&#8221;, and at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nickelinthemachine.com\/2008\/07\/the-kings-road-the-gateways-club-and-the-killing-of-sister-george\/\" target=\"_blank\">Another Nickel In The Machine<\/a> a report on The Gateways Club, one of the few meeting places for London&#8217;s lesbians in the 1960s. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/mixed-media\/2013\/06\/gay-porn-pakistan\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Park<\/a> wonders &#8220;Why Is Gay Porn So Popular In Pakistan?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 If it&#8217;s June 16th then it must be Bloomsday: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/culture\/books\/bloomsday\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Irish Times<\/em><\/a> has a page of Joyce-related links to mark the anniversary.
