{"id":13799,"date":"2013-05-21T02:00:42","date_gmt":"2013-05-21T01:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/?p=13799"},"modified":"2013-05-21T02:00:42","modified_gmt":"2013-05-21T01:00:42","slug":"fenella-fielding-reads-colette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/2013\/05\/21\/fenella-fielding-reads-colette\/","title":{"rendered":"Fenella Fielding reads Colette"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"fenella1.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/fenella1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The latest post at <a href=\"http:\/\/strangeflowers.wordpress.com\/2013\/05\/20\/a-fountain-of-ink\/\" target=\"_blank\">Strange Flowers<\/a> reminded me of some work of mine that appeared earlier this month which I can finally mention. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/decalcomania\/colette.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Fenella Fielding reads Colette<\/em><\/a> is another of those long-gestating recordings from Savoy&#8217;s audio division which has been released at last after a lengthy hiatus. This is a double-disc CD set of Fenella&#8217;s own selection from the writings of Colette, an author Fenella knows well having portrayed her in <em>Colette<\/em>, a play by Elinor Jones.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"fenella2.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/fenella2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The CD set is a digipak which I designed using a variety of Art Nouveau motifs printed in metallic gold on white card. All the photos are either of Colette or Fenella herself, past and present; the lengthy booklet notes were by the late <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/theguardian\/2010\/apr\/20\/montague-haltrecht-obituary\" target=\"_blank\">Monty Haltrecht<\/a>, a novelist and friend of Fenella&#8217;s who followed her career for many years. Monty approved of my initial draft of the design so it&#8217;s a shame he wasn&#8217;t able to see the finished thing. For the moment the CDs are available only through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.savoy.abel.co.uk\/HTML\/colette.html\" target=\"_blank\">Savoy<\/a> but the readings should be on iTunes in due course.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"fenella3.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/fenella3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"fenella4.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/fenella4.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The latest post at Strange Flowers reminded me of some work of mine that appeared earlier this month which I can finally mention.
