I was hoping they might have an entry for <em>The Tenant<\/em>, much of which is filmed around the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Porte_Saint-Denis\" target=\"_blank\">Porte Saint-Denis<\/a> in Paris but the only other Polanski entries are for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.movie-locations.com\/movies\/c\/chinatown.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Chinatown<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.movie-locations.com\/movies\/r\/rosemarysbaby.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Rosemary&#8217;s Baby<\/em><\/a>. No matter, one thing I like about the outdoor scenes in <em>Repulsion<\/em> is the views of South Kensington which Polanski fixed a year or so before <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DoSURRAuxI0\" target=\"_blank\">Donovan<\/a> was celebrating the area in a rather more positive manner. I have fond memories of South Kensington in the 1970s since it was the area we stayed in every February during an annual school trip. Barring a slight change of street furniture, the busy traffic island outside the Tube station looked just the same when we were there.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/LfnRD\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"r02.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/r02.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The exterior of Kensington Mansions in <a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/LfnRD\" target=\"_blank\">Trebovir Road<\/a>, the location for Carol&#8217;s apartment. I&#8217;d always thought this was in a street near the Tube station but it&#8217;s actually some distance away in Earl&#8217;s Court.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"r03.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/r03.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Colin (John Fraser) and Carol (Catherine Deneuve).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The hair salon where Carol works is Thurloe&#8217;s in <a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/1GX4c\" target=\"_blank\">Thurloe Place<\/a>, and the shop in question is still a hair salon. Google&#8217;s Street Views were taken in May 2012 so the flags are out for the Queen&#8217;s Jubilee.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/1GX4c\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"r04.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/r04.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/57jUD\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"r05.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/r05.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Just down the road from Thurloe&#8217;s is the <a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/57jUD\" target=\"_blank\">Hoop &amp; Toy<\/a>, the pub where Carol&#8217;s would-be boyfriend, Colin, goes drinking with his misogynist friends.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"r06.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/r06.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/jOz44\" target=\"_blank\">traffic island<\/a> outside the Tube station which in the latest Street View was still looking like a building site.
