Cover art by Nazario Luque.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Artist <a href=\"http:\/\/nazarioluque.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nazario Luque<\/a> was Spain&#8217;s first gay comic artist who&#8217;s also known for the drawing which appeared (without permission) on the sleeve of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/viewimages?release=3402775\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Lou Reed Live \u2013 Take No Prisoners<\/em><\/a> in 1978. On his website Nazario says he&#8217;s been described as &#8220;Exhibicionista, solidario, provocador, agitador moral, rompedor, arriesgado, polifac\u00e9tico, transgresor, canalla, pintiparado, morigerado o simplemente superviviente&#8230;&#8221; Via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entrecomics.com\/?p=79498\" target=\"_blank\">M\u00fasica, maestros<\/a>, a two-part post (second part is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entrecomics.com\/?p=79559\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>) about album cover art by comic artists.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"http:\/\/thequietus.com\/articles\/09993-new-radiophonic-workshop-matthew-herbert\" target=\"_blank\">The BBC Radiophonic Workshop Returns<\/a>. And quite conveniently, Ubuweb posts some original Radiophonic creations by electronic music genius <a href=\"http:\/\/ubu.com\/sound\/derbyshire.html\" target=\"_blank\">Delia Derbyshire<\/a>. Ms Derbyshire is profiled along with her other pioneering colleagues in an hour-long TV documentary, <a href=\"http:\/\/ubu.com\/film\/alchemists.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Alchemists of Sound<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Tor.com celebrates the fiction of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tor.com\/blogs\/2012\/09\/celebrating-shirley-jackson-the-haunting-of-hill-house-and-we-have-always-lived-in-the-castle\" target=\"_blank\">Shirley Jackson<\/a>. Too Much Horror Fiction has a substantial collection of <a href=\"http:\/\/toomuchhorrorfiction.blogspot.co.uk\/search\/label\/shirley%20jackson\" target=\"_blank\">Shirley Jackson book covers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Phantasmagorical and all but plotless, <em>Nightwood<\/em> flings itself madly upon the night, upon Wood, and upon the reader. Its sentences pomp along like palanquins and writhe like crucifixions. They puke, they sing. Their deliriums are frighteningly controlled. [\u2026] TS Eliot loved <em>Nightwood<\/em> so much that he shepherded its publication and wrote the introduction to the first edition. Dylan Thomas complimented it with his left hand by calling it \u201cone of the three great prose books ever written by a woman\u201d and with his right hand by stealing from it. [\u2026] <em>Nightwood<\/em>\u2019s Dr. Matthew-Mighty-grain-of-salt-Dante O\u2019Connor, florid monologist and transvestite, seems to have been a model (along with Captain Ahab) for Judge Holden in <em>Blood Meridian<\/em>. The difference is that Cormac McCarthy\u2019s Judge is essentially Satan, whereas O\u2019Connor is essentially Christ; they&#8217;re only just on opposite sides of the border of madness.<\/p>\n<p><em>Austin Allen on <a href=\"http:\/\/bigthink.com\/book-think\/the-life-and-death-of-djuna-barnes-gonzo-greta-garbo-of-american-letters\" target=\"_blank\">The Life and Death of Djuna Barnes<\/a>, Gonzo &#8220;Greta Garbo of American Letters&#8221;.
