{"id":10628,"date":"2011-12-15T02:38:25","date_gmt":"2011-12-15T02:38:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/?p=10628"},"modified":"2012-01-30T02:25:00","modified_gmt":"2012-01-30T02:25:00","slug":"the-courts-of-the-feyre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/2011\/12\/15\/the-courts-of-the-feyre\/","title":{"rendered":"The Courts of the Feyre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/bibliopoesy\/courts.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/shevdon1.jpg\" alt=\"shevdon1.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Three new cover designs of mine for Angry Robot which were <a href=\"http:\/\/angryrobotbooks.com\/2011\/12\/angry-robot-cover-art-reveal-shevdon-x3-beukes\/\" target=\"_blank\">made public a few hours ago<\/a>. <em>The Courts of the Feyre<\/em> is a fantasy series by British author <a href=\"http:\/\/shevdon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Shevdon<\/a> set in present-day Britain and involving &#8220;a world of dark magic and strange creatures hidden in plain sight.&#8221; Two of these titles are reprints, <em>Strangeness and Charm<\/em> is a new addition to the series, and there are plans for a fourth title later on.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/bibliopoesy\/courts.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johncoulthart.com\/feuilleton\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/shevdon2.jpg\" alt=\"shevdon2.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Marc at Angry Robot wanted a distinctive, uniform look for the series, and I&#8217;m very pleased with the way the designs turned out. Since the plan was to use a decorative frame printed on black I decided to have a tilted square in the centre of each cover to make a shape that would catch the eye on a shelf or when seen as a thumbnail image.
