John,

Of course! But then the matter is settled, the church depicted must be this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uppsala_Cathedral .

Hi Tobias. I'm fairly sure that'll be one word (despite the odd spacing) UPPSALA. I don't know anything about the city or its architecture, however.

Mister Aitch: I like the typefaces on these posters, as well as the designs, nice fat Deco-ish lettering.

Thanks for a great blog. For those of you who would be interested, the text on the poster with the church towers in the background reads

"VPP Sala
March-May 1918

Exhibition of old church art"

The abbreviation "VPP" is unknown to me, but "Sala" is the name of a town in Sweden.

Perhaps some more knowledgeable Swede could confirm that the church depicted is the dome church in Uppsala?

Best regards,

Tobias from Stockholm

At the offices in Sweden where I worked until recently there were a few old movie posters on one of the walls, one of which looks like it could well have been Kåge's work.

Thanks for posting these!
