Wow, that message board beneath article was what proved very engaging to me. Some of those guys were getting a wee bit too into the debate. It didn’t surprise me, though it left me somewhat disappointed, when, almost immediately and for a few pages the original context, as broad and interpretable as it is, shifted into a battle between overbearing (on both sides) theists and atheists.

I rarely look at the comments on newspaper pieces for that reason, they get sidetracked very quickly. CiF (the Guardian’s blogs) have a bunch of regulars pushing monotonous agendas regardless of the subject, usually deism versus atheism, Israel versus Palestinians and America versus everything. Art posts are usually a bit more sensible, but they’re still prone to hijacking.
