Turns out that Jonathan Littell, author of <i>The Kindly Ones</i> is the <i>same</i> Jonathan Littell who wrote <i>Bad Voltage</i>, which I thought was completely amazing when I was a late teen (and actually still quite like now, although the author is a bit embarrassed by it). Amongst other things, <i>Bad Voltage</i> features the Paris catacombs, art terrorists (always a favorite theme for me), awesome music (although he got the sides wrong on that final Joy Division album). Hell, the guy predicted the iPod. I may have to check out <i>The Kindly Ones</i> after all.... Huh.
