Well, there is no Powell movie and Powell’s name is not visible in the article of the Independant ! Maybe English people do not like their own movies ???
That’s not too surprising, Powell & Pressburger often get overlooked in favour of David Lean and Carol Reed. I like Lawrence of Arabia a great deal–I saw it twice on the big screen–but Lean wasn’t a match for P&P’s visual style and imagination.
Let’s wait for an English top 100 of the movies :-)
