The recurrent pose 21

And still they come… This variation on the Flandrin pose was recommended by Jonathan at Midian Books, for whom I designed some catalogue covers several years ago. Jonathan’s partner, Victoria Musson, took the (untitled) photo and their site features other examples of her work with a distinctly pagan quality.

  1. The funny thing is, if you spend lots of time looking at vintage photos (and especially those of the handsome mens) like I do, it gets so you start seeing Flandrin Poses everywhere! I can understand why you started posting these as a series, because really it is such a recurring motif and the variety of them is wonderful to see.

  2. It was a vintage photo which first tipped me off to this as well, the Von Gloeden one I featured in the original post.
